Our Mission

Renting in the United States is complicated. Between the 40x income rule, prorated rent calculations, security deposits, DTI ratios, and annual rent increases — most renters are left guessing. We built RentCalculator.us to change that.

Our mission is simple: give every American renter access to the same tools and knowledge that landlords and real estate professionals use, completely free of charge.

Our Data & Methodology

All calculations are based on well-established US rental standards that have been industry practice for decades. The 40x rule, 30% budget guideline, and Debt-to-Income thresholds are used by landlords and housing authorities nationwide.

City average rent data is compiled from HUD Fair Market Rent guidelines and real estate market benchmarks. This data is static and used as a reference benchmark — actual rents vary by neighborhood, building, and lease terms.

All calculations run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your financial data.
